INTERCESSIONS FOR CHRISTMAS EVE AND DAY
2003
Priest:
As we celebrate the birth of Jesus, let us ask him to listen to our petitions.
Reader:
A child is born to us, a child who brings light into the world.
Let us pray that we let that light enrich our own lives, and the lives of everyone we meet.
Lord in your mercy......................
Most of us will be enjoying Christmas with friends and family, others may not have such a good time.
Let us pray that the joy of Christmas may help people who are unhappy or ill and that we do all we can to help those in need.
Lord in your mercy......................
In our celebrations we should not forget those who suffer poverty and famine.
Let us pray that the rich countries of the world do all they can to alleviate poverty and malnutrition.
Lord in your mercy......................
Let us remember our Pope and all church leaders especially our own Father Alex and Father Charles and Sister Josephine, who look after us so well.
Let us pray that they may be able to celebrate a Joyful and Peaceful Christmas and New Year.
Lord in your mercy......................
War and Terrorism continue to show man's inhumanity to man (and women of course).
Let us pray that Christ's forgiveness, tolerance and peace overcome people's hatred and violence.
Lord in your mercy......................
Let us ask Jesus' mother to pray for us Hail Mary...
Now let us pray in silence for our own needs.
Priest:
Lord grant our prayers in the name of Jesus, born for us today.
