INTERCESSIONS FOR PALM SUNDAY 8TH APRIL 2001

As we celebrate the joy of Palm Sunday, the reading of the Passion reminds us of the sadness of Good Friday, and of the desperation felt by the Disciples and Jesus’ Mother.

Let us pray for all who feel despair, that they may be comforted, and be strengthened by the happiness to come at Easter.

(Pause) “LORD IN YOUR MERCY”

Our children and young people at school are about to begin, or have begun, their Easter Holidays.

Let us pray for their teachers and school staff, that they may have a pleasant, relaxing break, and come back refreshed after Easter.

(Pause) “LORD IN YOUR MERCY”

We remember those who are not well in our Parish, and those who care for them.

Let us pray that all who are sick in mind, body or spirit, may receive the healing grace of Christ.

(Pause) “LORD IN YOUR MERCY”

The farmers in our country are having a terrible time, either having their animals destroyed, or fearing the disease will spread to their animals.

Let us pray that they may receive all the support they need - from us, from agencies and from Government; and that their sufferings will soon be over.

(Pause) “LORD IN YOUR MERCY”

Christian clergy of all denominations will be very busy this week, ministering to their people.

Let us pray that they will have the help and support of their congregations, and that we, in Christ the King, will do all we can to make Holy Week and Easter -prayerful, meaningful and joyful.

(Pause) “LORD IN YOUR MERCY”

Let us ask our Blessed Lady to pray for us - Hail Mary      Let us pray for our own intentions in silence.

PLEASE REMAIN AT THE LECTERN UNTIL FATHER COMPLETES THE PRAYERS
