INTERCESSIONS FOR 3rd SUNDAY OF LENT YEAR C

Priest:

The Lord is compassion and love, he is well aware of our sufferings,
let us make known our needs to him and ask for his mercy.

Reader:

1. Let us pray for the church that, throughout this holy season,
   all may try earnestly to please God
   by repentance and prayer.
   (Pause)                     Lord, in your mercy. – Hear our prayer.

2. Let us pray for an end to war and oppression,
   that nations may live in peace and harmony with their neighbours.
   (Pause)                     Lord, in your mercy. – Hear our prayer.

3. We pray for those who are suffering from illness or stress,
   for those whose livelihoods are threatened by the Foot and Mouth crisis,
   for those experiencing stress at work,
   and for those faced with redundancy.
   (Pause)                     Lord, in your mercy. – Hear our prayer.

4. Let us pray for our parish community,
   for those who minister to us,
   for our teachers and catechists, for our benefactors,
   for the young people preparing to receive the sacraments,
   and for all who are sick or in need of our prayers.
   (Pause)                     Lord, in your mercy. – Hear our prayer.

5. Let us pray for the faithful departed,
   that they will be freed from their sins
   and welcomed into the company of the saints.
   (Pause)                     Lord, in your mercy. – Hear our prayer.

Let us ask Mary, Our Mother, to support us with her prayers as we say
Hail Mary.

Now we pray for our own intentions, in the silence of our hearts.

Heavenly Father, listen to the appeals of your people, and grant us what we need.
We ask this through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.
