INTERCESSIONS FOR 1st SUNDAY OF LENT YEAR C

Priest:

In this holy season of Lent, we call on the Lord, the God of our fathers,
and ask him for what we need and for the needs of the world.

Reader:

  1. Let us pray for the church,
for the Pope and the Bishops
and especially for the Bishop-elect of Clifton
that God will pour out his grace upon them.
    (Pause) Lord, hear us.
    – Lord, graciously hear us.

  1. Let us pray for the rulers and leaders of nations,
    that they will act justly
and save their people from harsh treatment and slavery.
(Pause) Lord, hear us. – Lord, graciously hear us.

  1. Let us pray for those who are frustrated by disabilities, illness or weakness,
for the victims of the horrific rail crash in Yorkshire,
and for all who are affected by the Foot and Mouth crisis.
(Pause) Lord, hear us. – Lord, graciously hear us.

  1. Let us pray for our parish and for the success of our Jubilee Mission,
that we might receive the grace to turn back to God and make a good Lent.
(Pause) Lord, hear us. – Lord, graciously hear us.

  1. We pray for those who are dear to us who have died,
that the Almighty will welcome them into heaven and give them glory.
(Pause) Lord, hear us. – Lord, graciously hear us.

Let us ask Our Blessed Lady to help us with our prayers as we say
Hail Mary.

Now in silence we pray for our own needs and intentions.

Priest:

Almighty Father, rich in mercy,
listen to our prayers and help us in what we need.
We ask this through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.
