INTERCESSIONS FOR SUNDAY 28TH DECEMBER

Priest: As we celebrate the Feast of the Holy Family let us ask God to hear our prayers.

Reader:

In the first Reading we hear how we should behave towards our parents, according to the Book of Ecclesiasticus.

Let us pray that we will always try to love and respect our parents, and as parents let us try to do all we can to earn that respect and love.

Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer

In the second Reading the Colossians are told to bear with one another, and to forgive each other as  soon as a quarrel begins.

Let us pray that we follow this advice, especially in our own homes, and let the peace of Christ reign in our hearts.

Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer

Let us remember those who are housebound, and those who are ill, especially Father Tom.

Let us pray that they will be comforted by God's healing grace.

Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer

The New Year is almost upon us and there seems no end to the conflict between Israel and Palestine, and Iraq is full of discontent and violence.

Let us pray that there is an end to conflict, and that tolerance and understanding prevail.

Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer

People with little money and those who are unemployed may be feeling low in these dark days.

Let us pray that God will help them to improve their situation and give them hope and self-worth.

Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer

Let us ask Jesus' mother to pray for us.  Hail Mary...

Let us pray for our own intentions in silence.

Priest; Lord grant our petitions we pray, in the name of your son Jesus
