INTERCESSIONS 13 MAY 2001  (5th SUNDAY OF EASTER) C

Introductory prayer:

Gathered in the power of our risen Lord, through whom the glory of God is revealed, let us offer our prayers for the needs of the world to Almighty God:

Reader:

For governments and international bodies, that peace and justice may reign in every nation and throughout the world.

(pause) Lord, in your mercy…

For all living creatures, and the present and future of all life on earth, that it may be set free from the excesses of human greed and exploitation, and that we learn to respect and cherish the natural world in which we live.

(pause) Lord, in your mercy…

For all Christian people, that we may love one another and be prepared to lay down our lives for one another, as the Lord commands us in the Gospel.

(pause) Lord in your mercy…

For the Church throughout the world, and for this parish, that we may be united in peace, empowered by the Spirit, and faithful to our mission to all humanity.

(pause) Lord in your mercy….

For those who have recently died, that they may be welcomed into their heavenly inheritance, until they share in the glorious resurrection on the last day.

(pause) Lord in your mercy…..

Let us ask our Lady Queen of Peace to help us with our prayer as we say: Hail Mary…

In the time of silence, we mention to the Lord our own needs and intentions.

Collect:

Grant, eternal God, that we who are made one with Jesus Christ in the power of his death and resurrection, may demonstrate in our everyday lives the love which shows us to be his disciples, so that the world may believe and be healed, through Christ our Lord, Amen.
