INTERCESSIONS 6 MAY 2001  (4th SUNDAY OF EASTER)

Introductory prayer:

In this Easter Season, we rejoice together at the Resurrection of Jesus Christ. Let us commend the whole world to the care of the Good Shepherd, and pray for all people according to their needs.

Reader:

For all preachers of the word of God, that they may follow the tradition of the Apostles, speaking out boldly to the up-building of all people, let us pray to the Lord, the Good Shepherd: Lord, in your mercy…

For all those suffering religious persecution, for all forcibly converted to another religion, for all those enslaved, imprisoned, or discriminated against on account of their faith, we pray that Christ the Good Shepherd will lead them to safety: Lord, in your mercy…

For vocations to the priesthood, permanent diaconate, and religious life, that Christians may be challenged to serve the Church in these special ways: Lord in your mercy…

For all Christians, that they may realise and put into use the gifts given by the Holy Spirit in baptism and confirmation, so building up the Church in unity and love, we pray to the Lord: Lord in your mercy…

For all affected by the agricultural crisis, that they may know the presence of Christ the Good Shepherd in their time of trouble, we pray to the Lord: Lord in your mercy…

Together with Mary, Mother of the Church, we ask the help of Christ the Good Shepherd, who seeks out the lost sheep. Hail Mary…

In the time of silence, we mention to the Lord our own needs and intentions.

Collect:

Into your hands, O Lord, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy, through Jesus Christ our Lord Amen.
