Intercessions for Sunday 22nd April

The Resurrection has happened and we have been redeemed by the sacrifice of Jesus on the Cross.

Let us pray that our lives too will be redeemed by the power of the sacrifice He made for us, and that we may retain the message of Easter in our heads, and in the way we treat other people.

(Pause) “LORD IN YOUR MERCY”

In the First Reading we hear how the first Christians lived, and healed people who were sick in spirit, mind or body; through the power of the risen Christ.

Let us pray the blessings of Jesus will heal those who are unwell, and that those who care for them may be blest as well and supported in their work. (Pause) “LORD IN YOUR MERCY”

In the Gospel St John tells us about one of the disciples, Thomas, who doubted the truth of Jesus’ Resurrection, until he saw the risen Jesus for himself.

Let us pray that when we or others doubt, the eternal love of Jesus will enable us and others, to overcome these doubts and renew our faith with devotion and prayer.

(Pause) “LORD IN YOUR MERCY”

The hostilities between Israel and Palestine are a great concern, with increasing loss of life and many people being injured.

Let us pray that peace may come to this troubled land, and that there will be a satisfactory resolution of the dispute for both sides.

(Pause) “LORD IN YOUR MERCY”

The children and young people in the Parish go back to their schools this week, where some young people will shortly be taking crucial exams.

Let us pray that they may come back from their holidays renewed and refreshed, and that they may be able to do their best in the exams to come..

(Pause) “LORD IN YOUR MERCY”

Let us ask our Blessed Mother, St Mary, to pray for us - Hail Mary

Let us pray in silence for ourselves or for other people.
