INTERCESSIONS FOR THE BAPTISM OF OUR LORD (YEAR C)
11th January 2004
Priest:
As we celebrate the baptism of Our Lord, Jesus Christ, let us pray to Him for all our needs:
Reader:
We pray for all who have been newly baptised, all those who are preparing for baptism, and all those involved in teaching the faith.
Lord in your mercy ………… Hear Our Prayer.
We pray for all involved in public ministry, for all politicians and world leaders. May they be led by the love of God to find the paths to justice and peace.
Lord in your mercy ………… Hear Our Prayer.
We pray for those who are sensing God’s call, and need reassurances to respond to it. We pray too for those who have lost their faith and stopped praying.
Lord in your mercy ………… Hear Our Prayer.
We pray for the courage, openness and humility which John the Baptist showed in preparing the way for Jesus. We pray that we may recognise how we need to respond in our own dealings with God and the people that we meet everyday.
Lord in your mercy ………… Hear Our Prayer.
We pray for all who are unable to be present in our Churches today, we pray for those who are yet to hear the Word of God and for those who are sick and housebound.
Lord in your mercy ………… Hear Our Prayer.
Finally, we ask Mary, Our Mother to intercede for us in our prayers as we say …………HAIL MARY.
We now pray silently to God for our own private intentions...
Priest:
Lord, you called Jesus by name and announced Him to the world; we thank you for calling each one of us by name. Look mercifully on the prayers of your children, through Christ, Our Lord. Amen.
