INTERCESSIONS FOR 3rd SUNDAY OF ADVENT (C)

Priest:

Today we rejoice in the Lord, and we look forward eagerly to the coming of our Saviour
mindful of God’s great love for us, we bring our needs before him.

Reader:

1. We pray for the Pope, Bishops, priests and religious
   that they will be renewed in spirit
   and inspire us to new heights of understanding and participation
   as we celebrate the coming season.
   (pause) Lord in your mercy – Hear our prayer.

 

2. Heavenly Father, grant to all nations a time of peace and tranquillity
   especially in the Middle East
   so that all peoples can experience the joy of Christ’s coming.
   (pause) Lord in your mercy – Hear our prayer.

 

3. We pray for those in any kind of need,
   help us to be compassionate and loving, and to share what we have
   so that broken hearts may be bound up
   and the poor cared for.
   (pause) Lord in your mercy – Hear our prayer.

 

4. Loving Father, we ask for the gift of repentance,
   in the light of your love may we see our faults and weaknesses more clearly
   and receive the grace to be reconciled.
   (pause) Lord in your mercy – Hear our prayer.

 

5. We pray that God will bring comfort and healing
   to those who suffer in mind, body or spirit
   to those who are grieving,
   or those cut off from their families at this time.
   (pause) Lord in your mercy – Hear our prayer.

 

6. We pray for those we love who have died
   that they may rejoice with the Saints
   in the eternal happiness of heaven.
   (pause) Lord in your mercy – Hear our prayer.

 

Let us ask Our Blessed Lady to join her prayers with ours as we say – Hail Mary.
