Intercessions for the Second Sunday of Advent

As we come to the Second Sunday in Advent, we place all our hope in you, Lord, to answer our petitions.
Reader:
In the first Reading we hear that God will guide Israel in joy by the light of his glory. Let us pray that we may show the same joy with everyone we meet.
Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer
In the Second Reading St Paul prays that the Philippians will love each other and increase their knowledge and perception. Let us pray that in this parish we may hear Paul's words and try to put them into practice.

The Gospel encourages us to "Prepare a way for the Lord" Let us pray that we try to do all we can - to prepare a way for God to enter our hearts - and keep Him there.
Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer
Conflicts around the world need our prayers. Let us pray for peace everywhere, but especially in Iraq, Israel, Palestine and Northern Ireland.

Our Folk Group and Choir will be practising assiduously over the next few weeks. Let us pray that they will be able to make our Christmas celebrations joyful, holy, and of course, tuneful !
