INTERCESSIONS FOR 2nd SUNDAY OF ADVENT (C)

Priest:

The Lord is coming! Let us ask God for the grace to change our lives
so that we may be better prepared to greet him.

Readers:

1. Heavenly Father
   help us to listen more carefully to your word,
   and may the Good News of your love
   fill us with joy.
   (Pause) Lord hear us – LORD GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.

 

2. Help us to turn away from things that are wrong
   or that hurt others,
   and to make our hearts and minds ready
   for the coming of the Saviour.
   (Pause) Lord hear us – LORD GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.

 

3. We pray for our families:
   help us to draw closer together
   and be more peaceful and loving.
   (Pause) Lord hear us – LORD GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.

 

4. We pray for all those in need;
   the poor, the sick, the homeless,
   unemployed people and refugees,
   and those in prison.
   Let us try to make sure
   that they share in the joy of Christ’s coming.
   (Pause) Lord hear us – LORD GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.

 

5. We pray for those who have died
   especially members of our own families.
   May we always give thanks for their lives
   and look forward to meeting them in heaven
   with God and his angels.
   (Pause) Lord hear us – LORD GRACIOUSLY HEAR US.

 

Mary looked forward with joy
to the coming of the Christ child,
we ask for her help with our prayers as we say – HAIL MARY - -

 Let us pray in silence for our own needs.
