INTERCESSIONS FOR 1st SUNDAY OF ADVENT. YEAR C

Priest:

As we celebrate the beginning of the Church’s New Year, let us turn in prayer to our Heavenly Father.

Reader:

Let us pray for the church,
that she will be strong in truth and faith,
and help us to make serious preparations
for the Coming of the Lord.
(Pause) Lord, in your mercy: -- Hear our prayer.

We pray for the grace to live blameless and holy lives,
making more and more progress towards perfection,
so we can look forward with confidence to the Day of the Lord.
(Pause) Lord, in your mercy. -- Hear our prayer.

We pray for the capacity to love one another as the Lord wills,
and to help those who are in need,
either materially or emotionally.
(Pause) Lord, in your mercy. – Hear our prayer.

We pray that God will send us steady and sufficient rain,
to fill up the lakes and reservoirs
and save us from drought.
(Pause) Lord, in your mercy. – Hear our prayer.

We pray for those we love who have died,
may they find the fullness of joy in God’s presence.
(Pause) Lord, in your mercy. – Hear our prayer.

We ask Mary, Mother of the Lord, to pray with us as we say - Hail Mary.

Let us pray in silence for our own needs and intentions.
