Intercessions for Christmas Day 2005

Priest:

This evening/morning we greet the birth of Jesus our Saviour. We join the angels and shepherds in adoring the holy child of Bethlehem as we bring our petitions to Him.

Reader:

We pray for God's blessing on the Church all over the world. May she light afresh in all hearts the lamps of hope and peace. (pause) Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for all who have waited for the coming of the Messiah. May those who wait for Him recognise His coming. (pause) Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for peace among nations and especially for those suffering from the consequences of war. (pause) Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

By coming as a baby in a manger, God took on our human weakness; may He be the eyes of the blind, the ears of the deaf, the strength of the weak, the friend of the lonely. (pause) Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray that the dying may be comforted with the hope of new life in heaven and that the dead may be made radiant in God's glory. (pause) Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Let us ask Our Lady to pray for us as we say Hail Mary…

Now let us bring our own requests to God in silence…

Priest:

God, our loving Father, hear and answer these prayers which we make in faith through our Lord Jesus Christ.
