Intercessions for Sunday March 30th 2003

Fourth Sunday of Lent, Year B

PRIEST

Let us turn to God who is generous with his mercy, with all our wants and needs.

READER

On this mothering Sunday, let us pray for all mothers. May we rejoice in our children as we strive to show them the good life as God meant us to live it, and console those mothers who experience the greatest sorrow of any parent: to see their children suffer. Lord in your mercy.. ...Hear our prayer.

Let us pray for our young people. May they enjoy the light of your creativity and come to see themselves for what they are: God's work of art. May their laughter and ridicule be saved for those works which seek to deny your truth and honesty. Lord in your mercy.. ...Hear our prayer.

Let us pray for all exiles, for those who, for whatever reason, are far from the place where their hearts desire to be. Give them the comfort of your love so that your songs may be sung even in a strange land. Lord in your mercy.....Hear our prayer.

Let us pray for all those who have died in the war in Iraq. Let us pray for them and their families as we continue to hope for peace. Lord in your mercy....Hear our prayer.

Let us turn to Our Lady, who knew the sorrow of an exile and the grief of a bereaved parent to intercede for us as we say, Hail Mary....

Let us pray for our own intentions in silence.

PRIEST

God our Father, grant our prayers in the name of Jesus your son.
