Third Sunday of Lent B 2000                                                           Intercessions

Priest:

Loving Lord, we believe that you have the message of eternal life. It is with this confidence that we now bring before you all the needs of our church and world.

Reader

We pray for all leaders, both civil and religious. May they have a conviction of the sanctity of all human life, that they may always and everywhere defend it. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for those who suffer because of a failure to respect human rights. May they experience God’s loving presence through the genuine goodness of those they encounter. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for those who persecute and maltreat groups within our society. May their minds and hearts be opened so that they may learn the error of their actions and attitudes. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for ourselves, that we may not fall into the ways of prejudice or discrimination. May we always be aware that we are all God’s precious children, regardless of age, colour or gender. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We pray for those who are sick especially Tony Grove and Mark Chaplin may they experience the power of Christ’s healing love. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We ask Mary, Mother of the Saviour, to join her prayers with ours as we say Hail Mary…

We pray for a few moments in the silence of our hearts..

Priest:

God our Loving Father, we present to you our petitions as a community gathered in your name, in the certain knowledge that you hear and answer them. For we make our prayer through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
