Intercessions for Sunday March 16th 2003
2nd Sunday of Lent, Year B
PRIEST
With God on our side who can be against us? Confident of God’s loving care let us place our needs before him.
READER
Let us pray for our leaders and their advisers who, like Abraham, have to make difficult decisions. Give them the courage to be honest, the will to be just, the greatness to be humble and the openness to learn. Lord in your mercy... Hear our prayer.
As children of Abraham, let us pray in solidarity with our brothers and sisters who live in the face of sickness or death. Through our prayers and actions may we know the healing power of your love. Lord in your mercy... Hear our prayer.
We pray for those who work tirelessly for justice and peace, especially the work of CAFOD. May CAFOD’s work and the work of the whole church be a visible sign of God’s glory active in the world. Lord in your mercy... Hear our prayer.
In our busy lives let us pray that we make room for the important things in life and that we may always experience a sense of wonder in the presence of God. Lord in your mercy... Hear our prayer.
Let us turn to Our Lady, the mother of Jesus to intercede for us as we say, Hail Mary....
Let us pray for our own intentions in silence.
PRIEST
God our Father, we pray that you will accept these prayers in the name of Jesus your Son who pleads for us at your right hand.
