Second Sunday of Lent 2000                                                                                                             Intercessions

Priest:

As we continue our Lenten journey let us pray to our Father in heaven of whose love we are so sure:

Reader:

For our Holy Father Pope John Paul, for Mervyn our Bishop, for all priests, religious and catechists, that the Spirit of God may guide them so that they work always for God’s love and never for human interest. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

For our parish community, that through our love for each other we may give effective witness to Christ our Divine Saviour. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

For those who suffer as a result of natural disasters especially the people of Mozambique and Madagascar. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

For those detained in prison that they may experience the comfort of faith amidst the hardships and loneliness they experience. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

For those who are sick, especially Tony Grove and Mark Chaplin, that they may experience the power of God’s healing love. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

For those who have died that they may experience the joys of the Kingdom of God in all their fullness. Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.

We ask Mary our Mother to join her prayers with ours as we say Hail Mary

Let us pray for a few moments in the silence of our hearts…

Priest:

Lord, you know the needs of your people. We bring to your love all those with special needs and desires, particularly those who are near to us, and those who have given up hope in your love. We make this prayer through Christ our Lord.
