Intercessions for Sunday March 9th 2003
1st Sunday of Lent, Year B
PRIEST
As Jesus was guided by the Spirit into the wilderness, may we be so guided at the start of Lent as we bring our petitions to you.
READER
In his covenant with Noah, God brought all living things under his care. Let us remember we are sharers in God’s creation and treat the world around us with the respect this demands.
Lord in your mercy Hear our prayer.
Let us always try to abide by God’s covenant with us, and be guided by the Spirit in our choices rather than giving way to the temptations of Satan.
Lord in your mercy Hear our prayer.
Let us pray for fund-raisers for charities, whether they are participating in the large-scale activities of Red Nose Day, or the quieter observance of Family Fast Day. May their efforts be undertaken in a spirit of cheerfulness and humility, and may they be duly rewarded.
Lord in your mercy Hear our prayer.
Let us pray for the work of the recipients of these funds - agencies such as Cafod and Oxfam. May they use their resources wisely as they seek to bring aid to the needy areas of the world.
Lord in your mercy. . . .Hear our prayer.
Let us turn to our Lady, the mother of Jesus to intercede for us as we say, Hail Mary....
Let us pray for our own intentions in silence.
PRIEST
God our Father, we pray that you will accept these prayers in the name of Jesus your Son.
