Palm Sunday   Intercessions

 

We pray for the church, that it may remain true to the sufferings of Jesus and worthy of the shedding of his blood. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

 

We pray for those who have lost their faith or stopped praying: that they may be brought back to the foot of the cross, through Christ's love. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

 

We pray for our loved ones, the members of our families, our friends and especially those from whom we are separated, either by distance or death, and all who are missing from their homes. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

 

We pray for those in pain, the lost, the lonely, the brokenhearted, the crushed in spirit, that they may be strengthened by the power of the Holy Spirit. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

 

We pray for those who already share Christ's suffering - the sick, the ailing and the dying - that they may feel the power of His resurrection. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

 

We pray for those who have died, in particular Margaret Hampson, that they may be raised to eternal life with Our Father in heaven. Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

 

We ask the Blessed Virgin Mary to support us with her prayers as we say Hail Mary…

 

We pray for a few moments in the silence of our hearts…

Gentle, powerful God, we stand at the threshold of this Holy Week with full hearts and empty hands. Take away our sorrow and fill us with joy at the knowledge of your triumph over sin.  Fill us with hope so that we may reach out to those you love. We ask these prayers through Christ our Lord. Amen.
