Fourth Sunday of Easter                                                                                                   Intercessions

Reader:

For the Church and all Christian leaders: that they may be true shepherds to their flocks, supporting the weak ones, guiding the wayward ones, and encouraging the steady ones. (pause) Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

For all who hold positions of responsibility and leadership, both internationally and in our own community: that they themselves may be led by God's Spirit to make wise decisions and help create a humane and caring world. (pause) Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

For vocations to the priesthood and religious life: that more people may hear the call to become shepherds to the flock of Christ and carry his message of peace and love to the far corners of the world. (pause) Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

For all the families represented here today: their hopes and sorrows, difficulties and celebrations: that all our relationships may be bathed in the love of Christ. (pause) Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

For all those who are suffering in mind and body, and find themselves in the valley of despair. May they remember that Jesus lives with them at the heart of their darkness and their sufferings. (pause) Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

For all those who have died, especially Bart Connolly and Mary Naughton, that they may enjoy eternal life in the glory of God's kingdom. (pause) Lord, in your mercy, hear our prayer.

Priest:

God of life, you never cease to call even those far off, for you desire that all be drawn into the fullness of life. Attune our ears to the voice of the Good Shepherd, who leads to you alone. Give us your tender protection, that we may find in your sheepfold life in all its fullness. We ask this in the name of Jesus, the risen Lord, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God forever and ever.       Amen.
