Intercessions for Sunday 22nd December

Priest :

We bring our petitions to you Lord, on the last Sunday of Advent, and ask you to answer our prayers.

Reader :

In the second reading St Paul writes that Jesus alone is wisdom.

Let us pray that we may give glory to God through Jesus Christ and to trust and believe that God knows what is best for us

Lord in you Mercy… Hear our prayer

As our children and young people start their holidays, let us remember those who teach and lecture to them.

Let us pray that those who are entrusted with the education of our young people may have a refreshing holiday, and be willing and able to take up the challenge again in January, and that we support them all we can.

Lord in you Mercy… Hear our prayer

Many people will be travelling over the Christmas holidays.

Let us pray that we ourselves show concern for other travellers, and do all we can to drive safely. We also pray for the Emergency Services.

Lord in you Mercy… Hear our prayer

Christ brought a message of Peace to the world over two thousand years ago.

Let us pray that His message will be heard in the Middle East, in Northern Ireland, in our own homes and everywhere.

Lord in you Mercy… Hear our prayer

Let us remember those who are unwell, especially those we care for, and remembering Father Tom in Wealdstone.

Let us pray that that they may be comforted by those who care for them, and that they do not suffer alone, and that our prayers and God's love will nourish and comfort them.

Lord in you Mercy… Hear our prayer.

In the Gospel we hear how willing Mary was to do God's bidding. Let us ask Our Lady to pray for us, Hail Mary...

Let us ask God for our own intentions in silence.

Priest : Lord, we pray that you will grant our prayers in the name of Jesus, who brings hope to the world.
