Intercessions for Sunday November 27th 2005

First Sunday of Advent Year B

PRIEST:

At the start of the Advent season let us pray that we may stay awake and be ready for the coming of Christ.

READER:

Let us pray for the church, that guided by the spirit of reconciliation and integrity, it may spread a message of peace and fellowship in all its works and deeds. (pause) Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

On this first Sunday of Advent, let us pray for the people of our parish. May our preparations for the coming of the Lord at Christmas be joyful and generous and may we not forget those who need extra help at this time of year. (pause) Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Let us pray for all teachers and preachers in our community. May they keep your ways in mind in their efforts to impart a love of learning, and may they never forget that all their students are made in the image of God. (pause) Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Let us pray for the strength of will for doing good, remembering that God, who was not ashamed to take our human form, works even through our weaknesses, forming worthy vessels for the Spirit from our humble clay. (pause) Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Let us turn to Our Lady, who enabled the Word to become flesh, to intercede for us as we say, Hail Mary….

Let us pray for a while in silence.

(PLEASE REMAIN AT THE LECTERN UNTIL FATHER COMPLETES THE PRAYERS)

PRIEST:

Lord, we pray that you will grant our prayers in the name of Jesus your Son.
