Intercessions
for Christmas Eve and Day

Priest:

We celebrate the Birth of Jesus, and we ask God to answer our prayers.

Reader:

Christ brought Light and Hope to the world.
Let us pray that we may let that Light shine through us and in our relationships with family and friends.
Lord in your mercy,
hear our prayer.

We worship the Baby Jesus as the Shepherds did two thousand years ago.
Let us pray that we may follow their example, and glorify and praise God - in our hearts, with our voices, and in how we live our lives.
Lord in your mercy,
hear our prayer.

Not everyone will be able to enjoy Christmas, perhaps through illness, poverty, unhappy relationships, or other difficulties,
Let us pray that we may try to help those in need, and to be as thoughtful and loving as we can.
Lord in your mercy,
hear our prayer.

As we are eating and drinking, celebrating Christmas and the New Year, let us remember those who have little or nothing to celebrate.
Let us pray for an end to hunger and famine, and do all we can to bring an end to these evils.
Lord in your mercy,
hear our prayer.

The Peace of Christmas will not reach everyone, and violence and conflict seem never to end.
Let us pray that the message the Angels brought "Peace to men of goodwill" will change people's attitudes and lead to reconciliation.
Lord in your mercy,
hear our prayer.

Let us ask Mary to pray for us ... Hail Mary...............

Let us pray for our own intentions in private

Priest:

We ask God to answer our prayers through Jesus Christ Our Lord.
