INTERCESSIONS FOR PALM SUNDAY -- YEAR A

Priest:

The Lord comes to our help even in the worst situations,
so we can bring to him our concerns

for the needy in this place and throughout the world.

Reader:

At the beginning of Holy Week
we pray for our Christian brothers and sisters,
that we may follow the example of Jesus
and lead lives of self-sacrifice and service to others.
(Pause) Lord, in your mercy: Hear our prayer.

We pray for the leaders of nations
and especially those who are involved in armed conflict
in the Middle East and Afghanistan,
and for all who are doubting or in fear,
or who will become casualties.
(Pause) Lord, in your mercy: Hear our prayer.

We pray for all who like Jesus are unjustly persecuted,
for people living in tyrannical and violent regimes
and for all who work for justice and liberation.
(Pause) Lord, in your mercy: Hear our prayer.

Let us pray for those preparing for Baptism at Easter,
and for ourselves that we will use this Holy Week profitably.
(Pause) Lord, in your mercy: Hear our prayer.

We pray for those who have died;
that they may receive merciful forgiveness
and know the joy of living in God’s presence.
(Pause) Lord, in your mercy: Hear our prayer.

Let us ask Mary, the Mother of our Saviour, to support us with her prayers as we say - Hail Mary.

Now, in silence, we pray for our own needs and intentions.

Priest:

Heavenly Father, hear our prayers and help us:
we ask this through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen.
