Intercessions for Sunday March 13th 2005
5th Sunday of Lent, Year A

PRIEST:

Let us turn to God, as did the exiles in Babylon, to listen to our needs and comfort us.

READER:

Let us pray for the church, that it may be a source of holiness, inspiration and guidance in a world where a sense of right values can seem confused and compromised.

(pause) Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Let us pray for all those who are crying out from the depths of hopelessness and depression, that they may have courage to cling on, soon to realise that from their suffering the seeds of hope may spring.

(pause) Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Let us pray for all those who have died recently, that after life's struggles they find forgiveness and eternal rest, face to face with Christ our saviour.

(pause) Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Let us pray for ourselves, that in our homes and places of work we may have patience, understanding and the courage to lead the Christian life.

(pause) Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer.

Let us turn to Mary, who also mourned, to intercede for us as we say, Hail Mary...

Let us pray for our own intentions in silence.

PRIEST:

God our Father, we pray that you will accept these prayers in the name of Jesus your Son, who wept for his friend Lazarus.
