INTERCESSIONS FOR 3rd SUNDAY OF LENT YEAR A
Priest:
We have heard of God’s boundless generosity in his gift of water to the Israelites and his great love for us sinners, so we confidently put before him our needs and the needs of the world.
Reader:
1.
We pray for Pope John Paul, all
Bishops and priests,
and we ask God’s blessing on all
who are preparing for the sacraments,
especially those who will receive
the living water of Baptism at Easter.
(Pause) Lord, hear us. –
Lord, graciously hear us.
2.
We pray for World leaders and politicians
that they will turn away from armed conflict, revenge and deception
and work for the peace and security of their people.
(Pause) Lord, hear us. – Lord,
graciously hear us.
3.
We pray for those tormented by need:
those who have no clean water to drink,
those suffering from famine or poverty,
and those without proper shelter.
Let us remember to give support
to the aid agencies that minister on our behalf.
(Pause) Lord, hear us. –
Lord, graciously hear us.
4.
Let us pray for ourselves and our parish community;
may we be strengthened in our Lenten resolutions,
that through self discipline and prayer
we may grow in holiness.
(Pause) Lord, hear us. – Lord,
graciously hear us.
5.
We pray for those who have died
and for those who mourn;
may the souls of the departed
live forever in the joy of God’s presence.
(Pause) Lord, hear us. – Lord,
graciously hear us.
Let us ask Our Blessed Lady to join her prayers with
ours as we say Hail Mary…
Together in silence, we pray for our own needs and
intentions.
Priest:
Merciful Father, hear our prayers and grant that what
we ask in faith we may receive through Jesus Christ, Our Lord. Amen
