Feast of the Holy Family Intercessions
Priest:
On this Feast of the Holy Family we turn to our Father and ask him for our needs.
Reader:
1. Today we celebrate the
Feast of the Holy Family.
Let us pray that we may be supportive and forgiving in our own families. (pause) Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
2. We hear so much of
violence and aggression, in Asia, in the Middle east, in Africa, in Northern
Ireland.
Let us pray that the Peace of Christ will overcome the hate and resentment, and that people will learn to respect each other. (pause) Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
3. In St Paul’s Epistle,
he urges us to bear with one another and to forgive and “put on love”.
Let us pray that we will be more tolerant and non-judgemental in our behaviour towards other people. (pause) Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
4. Many people feel low at
this time of the year with more darkness than daylight.
Let us pray that people who are lonely or depressed may be warmed by the Light of Christ. (pause) Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
5. Religious leaders all
over the world have a crucial role in reconciling conflict.
Let us pray that they may be successful in their prayers, as well as their actions, for peace everywhere. (pause) Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Let us ask Mary, mother of the Christ Child, to pray for us: Hail
Mary…
Let us pray in silence for our own intentions.
Priest:
God our loving Father we ask you to listen to all our prayers because we make them in faith and in the name of Jesus your Son who is Lord for ever and ever. Amen
