Intercessions
Sixth Sunday of Easter (Year A) – 1 May 2005
Priest:
With confidence in God, Our Father, we turn to him in prayer for all our needs
Reader:
We pray for our new Pope Benedict XVI may he be guided and strengthened by you, and provide an inspiration and an example to us all.
Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We pray that we too may have the strength and courage to follow in your way, to keep your commandments, and to give encouragement at the right time to those who may look to do likewise.
Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We pray for those in special need throughout the world: those without food, those without shelter. We pray especially for those suffering at the hands of injustice and tyranny.
Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
In this election week, we pray for whoever may be elected that they may govern wisely and with due consideration for all, especially the old, the sick, and the unemployed.
Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We pray for all those studying hard for exams at schools and colleges, may they be comforted at this stressful time and achieve what they are aiming for.
Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Finally we pray for all who have died, our families and friends, and those who have died alone. May they now be enjoying the peace and joy of your Kingdom.
Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
We now ask in this month of Mary, for our mother to intercede for us in our prayers as we say………. Hail Mary
In the silence of our hearts we now pray for our own private intentions.
Priest:
Lord God, we ask you to listen to the prayers we make today in faith and grace through your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen.
