INTERCESSIONS for the FIFTH SUNDAY of EASTER (cycle A)

Let us thank and praise God who has called us out of darkness into his wonderful light and, in faith, let us bring all our needs to him in prayer.

In faith we rejoice at the election of Pope Benedict may he be guided, throughout his pontificate, by the Holy Spirit.

Lord in your mercy Hear our prayer

We pray for politicians that they may speak and act with integrity. Guide us as we prepare to make our vote.

Lord in your mercy Hear our prayer

In trust we bring to you the peoples of Africa with all their many problems. Give them wise and trustworthy rulers dedicated to the cause of the poor. Give to us and our rulers generous understanding of their problems.

Lord in your mercy Hear our prayer

We pray for the unemployed, the unemployable and those threatened by unemployment that they may exercise their skills and be valued by society for whatever contribution they can make.

Lord in your mercy Hear our prayer

We pray for the sick, the dying and those recently dead; - give them your comfort and peace.

Lord in your mercy Hear our prayer

Let us ask Our Lady, who suffered the sorrow of seeing her son die, to aid us with her prayers Hail Mary………

In silence let us bring our own needs to Almighty God.

Father, we ask you to receive and answer all our prayers which we make in faith through Jesus Christ, our Lord Amen
