Intercessions
Sunday 19th December 2004
Priest :
On this 4th Sunday of Advent let us ask God to grant our prayers.
Reader:
Isaiah tells us that a son will be born who
will be named Immanuel, which means "God-is-with-us".
Let us pray that we will always be able to remember that God is with us
all the time, and that He will look after us.
(pause) Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Many people will be travelling over the
Christmas and New Year period.
Let us pray that we may travel safely and show concern for other
users on the roads, and pray for the Emergency Services.
(pause) Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
There has been another breakdown in the
negotiations in Northern Ireland.
Let us pray that the peace the Christ child brought into the world, may
change the hearts of the opposing sides, and bring about a lasting
peace.
(pause) Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Schools and Colleges will be having
their Christmas Holidays.
Let us pray that all pupils and students have a relaxing and enjoyable
holiday, and we pray that they and their teachers and lecturers return
duly refreshed in January.
(pause) Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
There have been more deaths and people
wounded in Iraq.
Let us pray for an end to the fighting and bombing and a peaceful
resolution of the conflict.
(pause) Lord in your mercy, hear our prayer.
Let us ask our Blessed Lady to pray for us. Hail Mary...
Let us pray in silence for our own needs…
Priest:
God our loving Father, we ask you to listen to all our prayers because we make them in faith and in the name of your Son Jesus who is Lord for ever and ever. Amen
