Intercessions for Sunday 2nd December

Priest:

As we begin the Season of Advent we place our confidence in you, Lord, to answer our petitions.

Reader:

In the first Reading Isaiah tells the House of Jacob to “Walk in the Light of the Lord”

Let us pray that we will be able to remember these words in our daily life and try to live by them, as we journey towards Christmas.

(Pause) Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer

In the Gospel we hear how Jesus told his disciples that they should stand ready at all times.

Let us pray that we may conduct our lives properly in line with Jesus’ teaching, showing respect and love for all our neighbours.

(Pause) Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer

We hear daily of the War in Afghanistan and of the misery and hardship.

Let us pray that peace may be achieved very soon, and a new government may be created which recognises everyone’s needs and rights, especially the rights of women.

(Pause) Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer

We in the Western World need to assist those who are struggling to survive, those who cannot find enough to eat and drink, especially in Afghanistan.

Let us pray that we do all we can to alleviate this suffering. by giving support ourselves, and encouraging our Government to help.

(Pause) Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer

In our Parish there are many people who have special needs, people of all ages who often require specialised help.

Let us pray that we do not forget their needs and the needs of those who care for them, and that they will both receive God’s comfort and blessing.

(Pause) Lord in your mercy, Hear our prayer

Let us ask Blessed Mary. whose Immaculate Conception we celebrate on Saturday to pray for us. Hail Mary…

Let us pray in silence for our own needs

PLEASE REMAIN AT THE LECTERN UNTIL FATHER COMPLETES THE PRAYERS

Priest:

Lord we pray that you will grant our prayers in the name of Jesus who brought life and hope to the world.
